CarterWill Search is sourcing for a Labor and Employment Law Attorney to join a well-established Florida law firm in its Clearwater, FL office. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven attorney with 3–5 years of experience to take on meaningful responsibility in a growing employment law practice that offers hands-on litigation, counseling, and workplace advisory work.
The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and eager to build depth in employment law while working in a collaborative environment that emphasizes mentorship, client service, and long-term professional development.
Position Summary:
This role provides the opportunity to work closely with senior attorneys on complex employment matters while independently managing assigned cases. The practice represents employers across a variety of industries, offering both litigation support and strategic compliance counseling. Attorneys will be entrusted with increasing responsibility and direct client engagement.
Responsibilities:
- Advise employers on federal, state, and local employment laws and workplace compliance matters.
- Represent employers in employment litigation in state and federal courts.
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and discovery responses.
- Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda, briefs, and other legal documents.
- Take and defend depositions and participate in hearings and trial preparation.
- Prepare position statements and respond to administrative charges, including EEOC matters.
- Conduct workplace investigations involving discrimination, harassment, and employee relations issues.
- Draft and review employee handbooks, workplace policies, employment agreements, restrictive covenants, and separation agreements.
- Assist with wage and hour compliance matters and related litigation.
- Provide day-to-day employee relations guidance and risk management counseling to clients.
- Communicate directly with clients and collaborate with internal team members on active matters.
- 3–5 years of labor and employment law experience required.
- Experience in employment litigation and employer-side counseling required.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws required.
- Experience responding to administrative agency charges (EEOC or similar) preferred.
- Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills required.
- Strong ability to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment required.
- Strong communication and client service skills required.
- Active member in good standing with The Florida Bar required.
